The
Final Chapter, A PERSON IN A POSTION OF TRUST
Readers' Comments
"I wanted to compliment you on your delightful web site which I found by accident and the Beef Matson story. There were so many places in the story that gave me a good cry. If my boy, my gay son were still alive, I'm sure he would love the story and I'd want him to live with people just like the characters you depict in the story." - Stella
"You gave me one of your magnets at pridefest. How nice of you and what a cool thing. Great website, love your art. Do more! Really getting into the Beef Matson story. Just started but sampled the other chapters. Great story and chapter 11 is really wild." - Steve
"Just finished reading the first Beef Matson story. Very intelligent and clever with plenty of tugs on the heart strings. The last chapter of the story was so upbeat and uplifting I kept reading it over and over. I don't know why, but the line that really got me literally crying on my keyboard was when Randy says, "Our family opens our presents on Christmas Eve". I hope your new story is as good as your first." - Jimmy K.

"Thank you Rick Chris for your wonderful Christmas story, A Person In
A Position Of Trust, it is just so perfect for this time of year. I can't tell
you how much the last chapter of the story, chapter
12, moved me. The theme of the story, that our friends and loved
ones never really leave us and are close by and that some day they might be
given back to us, fits right in with the spirit of the season. Your story is
like a gay It's A Wonderful Life, but so much better. You should have the story
published as a hard copy book with lots of your beautiful illustrations."

From Justin C. in CT:
I think your Beef Mystery series is brilliant but I think that other writers like Rickard Stevenson or R.J. March probably rip off your idea's. The Donald Strachey stories are so popular. I think Beef Matson is more desirable. And San Francisco as the setting is awesome!
From author
William Maltese:
My congrats on so completely tying up all of the existing loose ends and doing so in such a nice and thoroughly satisfying manner. I couldn't think of even one end left hanging. What's more, I liked the way you did so by including some tongue-in-cheek (humor always appreciated!) Epilogue notes that didn't have all of the bad guys ending up dead or miserable (well, probably miserable but not really knowing it).
A delightful outcome, if I do say so myself -- love those Happy Endings (must be the romantic in me, although I'll deny it if ever accused).
Anyway, great-good work, and I would think that you'll have some very happy readers on your hands once they've a peek at this final chapter.
Oh, yes, needless to say (although, why not say it?), I do think that your ongoing accompaniment with artwork was a genuine bonus for your readers (color me envious of your ability to do so), especially in this age where even I appreciate a bit of eye-candy, along with text. I think the pictures (supplemental to the story-line) really kept me eager to keep on scrolling to see what was upcoming. So, my man, although, I'm sure you already know this -- damned job well-done! Writer AND genius with the paintbrush -- a genuine Renaissance Man!

Your
story - what can I say but YEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!
Well worth the wait, i figured Gloria would get off easy, her type usually do. as for the rest, you kept me hopping and guessing , when berry's mother and the frying pan God help us all, I was in stitches.
As for Randy and Beef what can I say! The story was well written, mystery intrigue, suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, the humor was a delightful range of giggles to downright belly laughter.
You have a talent that should be enjoyed by one and all.

Finally finished reading chapter 12. You promised some strange twists and you
delivered them big time. The frying pan was neat. It is truly one of the few
gay positive stories I have read in a very long time. What is next on your lengthly
list of accomplishments. Keep up the good work.

"Two days ago in a google search I stumbled on chapter 11 of 'A Person In A Position Of Trust'. Not the right place to start but I could not stop and have just finished chapter 12 with a sense of total joy. You were right to change the ending just as Charles Dickens did in 'Great Expectations' and the compression of the climatic conclusion into a few paragraphs of bliss is wonderful.
There is so much in this story that I can relate to and I intend to read it from the beginning when I can.
The notes that you provided about the gestation of the work are so familiar to my experience.
Thank you for what I have seen so far." - Jim
